Carney Cheshire Summer Term 2018 Information
From Summer 2018 each stage will be working towards a performance that will take place at the end of the Summer Term which is the 30th June. Some rehearsals have already been happening but every new member will be integrated into the academy and its show and have their chance to shine.
Below you will see the information for each group we will be hosting at Carney Academy.
Please note that the ages attached to the groups are only a guide, students will be placed in the right stage for their learning.
Summer Term Dates 2018
We are aware this doesn’t exactly follow the academic timetable but the town hall has some commitments so we have to work around them.

Stage One – Age 4-7 years – Time 9am to 10am
This stage is for those who are starting on their journey into acting, singing and dancing. Each young actor will build basic skills and knowledge in all three subjects. They will work on and develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline.
Stage Two – Age 8-11 years
Acting – In this group each actor will continue to develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline. They will start to work on character development, devising and text with a strong focus on peer feedback.
Dance – The young dancer will start to work on a variety of dance forms, expanding knowledge and technique.
Singing – Singers will have fun with all the varied sounds the voice can make and develop and strengthen lower and higher voice registers. Singers will learn more complicated melodies than in group one, introducing singing with accompaniment, and basic harmonies; singing more complicated rhythms, paying attention to entries and developing an awareness of song structure; expression through singing.
Stage Three – Ages 12-15
Acting – In this group each will delve deeper into character development, using text to help discover more. The young actor will be challenged and shown what it is to be a professional actor, building on their skills.
Dance – They will delve deeper into different dance forms and choreography skills. This term will see them work on various styles and routines.
Singing – Students will connect the varied sounds and colours the voice can make with the singing voice, strengthening lower and higher voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies; linking musical features with expression in singing; further development of aural skills; development of improvisatory vocal skills.
Stage Four – Ages 15-21
Acting – This group is an advanced group and they will be challenged and treated as young professional actors. They will work on voice, text, text analysis, character development and stage craft.
Dance – They will delve deeper than group three into different dance forms and choreography skills. This term will see them work on various styles and routines and be pushed to achieve more.
Singing – Students will connect the varied sounds and colours the voice can make with the singing voice, strengthening lower and higher voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies – working toward confident 4-part harmony singing as well as opportunities for small group work such as duets; linking musical features in vocal line and accompaniment with expression in singing; awareness of appropriate features of genre.
Timetable and prices
Our prices are per term. It is based on £7.50 an hour. There are no discounts for classes missed. You can pay monthly by standing order (a month in advance) or termly by bank transfer or cheque.
Stage One is £90 for the term
Stage Two, Three and Four is £270 for the term
There is a 10% sibling discount if both siblings are taking all three subjects.
