This page will give you information about our acting, singing and dancing classes at Carney Academy Sheffield.

Term Dates

22nd April to the 8th July no class on the 3rd June 2017

Acting One
This group is for those who are starting on their journey into drama. Each student will build basic skills and knowledge. They will work on and develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline. 
This group will present work in class to friends and family throughout the year.

Acting Two
In this group each student will continue to develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline. They will start to work on character development, devising and text with a strong focus on peer feedback. Group One is for the less experienced student and Group Two is for the more mature student or those with experience.

Acting Three Groups 1
In this group each student will have a good level of confidence, imagination and discipline. They will delve deeper into character development, using text to help discover more.

Acting Three Group 2
In this group each student will have a good level of confidence, imagination and discipline. They will delve deeper into character development, using text to help discover more.

Acting Four 1
This group is an advanced group and they will be challenged and treated as young professional actors.  They will work on skills and techniques that a young professional actor would be asked to at drama schools.

Acting Four 2
This group is an advanced group and they will be challenged and treated as young professional actors.  They will work on skills and techniques that a young professional actor would be asked to at drama schools.

DANCE CLASSES

Dance One
This group is for those who are starting on their journey into dance. Each student will build basic skills and knowledge. They will work on and develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline.

Dance Two
In this group each student will continue to develop confidence, imagination and discipline.  They will start to work on a variety of dance forms, expanding knowledge and technique. They will be work towards performances and showings.

Dance Three
In this group each student will continue to develop confidence, imagination and discipline.  They will delve deeper into different dance forms and choreography skills. They will work in detail to create a high standard of performance.

Dance Four
In this group each student will continue to develop confidence, imagination and discipline.  They will delve deeper into different dance forms and choreography skills. They will work in detail to create a high standard of performance.

SINGING CLASSES

Singing One
Each student will have fun with all the varied sounds the voice can make and explore the range above speech.  They will develop an ability to match pitches with their own voice and an awareness of basic intervals and learn a sense of pulse and basic rhythms.

Singing Two
Students will have fun with all the varied sounds the voice can make and develop and strengthen lower and higher voice registers. Students will learn more complicated melodies, introducing singing with accompaniment, and basic harmonies; singing more complicated rhythms, paying attention to entries and developing an awareness of song structure; expression through singing.

Singing Three
Students will connect the varied sounds and colours the voice can make with the singing voice, strengthening lower and higher voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies; linking musical features with expression in singing; further development of aural skills; development of improvisatory vocal skills.

Singing Four
Students will connect the varied sounds and colours the voice can make with the singing voice, strengthening lower and higher voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies – working toward confident 4-part harmony singing as well as opportunities for small group work such as duets; linking musical features in vocal line and accompaniment with expression in singing; awareness of appropriate features of genre.
