Term Dates
15th September 2018 through to the 8thDecember with no class the 3rdNovember

Stage One
Acting, singing and dance
This stage is for those who are starting on their journey into performing arts. Each young performer will build basic skills and knowledge of the stage.  They will work on and develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline. The emphasis in this stage is on being creative and using imagination.

Performance
They will perform at the end of the Summer Term in a show that is chosen for the group.  Rehearsals for this will start at after the Spring Half Term. The performance will be a combination of all three disciplines taught at the academy.

Stage Two
Acting– In this stage each actor will continue to develop confidence, imagination, teamwork and discipline.  They will gain a good understanding of the language of the stage. They will start to work on vocal technique, character development and devising with a strong focus on peer feedback.

Dance– In this stage, each student will continue to develop confidence and imagination and will begin to focus on technique in a number of different dance styles including street dance, jazz, contemporary and musical theatre. They will work on choreography which will lead towards performances and showings further developing their discipline and teamwork sills.

Singing– Students will have fun exploring all the varied sounds the voice can make, developing and strengthen lower and upper voice registers. Students will learn more complicated melodies, introducing singing with accompaniment, and basic harmonies; singing more complicated rhythms, paying attention to entries and developing an awareness of song structure; expression through singing.

Performance
There will be an informal showing of class work at the end of this term, this could be anything from parents being invited into class to a small presentation of work with the entire academy. The main performance will take place at the end of the Summer Term 2019. Rehearsals for this will start after Spring half term.

Stage Three
Acting– In this stage each actor will have a good level of confidence, imagination and discipline.  They will already have a good understanding of the language of the stage.  This will allow the young actor to delve deeper into character development, using text to help discover and develop further.  They will work on the voice which is the main tool of the actor.

Dance– In this stage, each student will continue to develop confidence, imagination, technique and discipline. They will delve deeper into the different dance forms building on technique and will also form a greater understanding of choreography skills. They will work in detail to create a high standard of performance.

Singing– Students will explore a range of vocal styles from Jazz & pop to Rock & MT; understanding the colours the voice can make when singing. They will work on strengthening lower and upper voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies; linking musical features with expression in singing; further development of aural skills; development of improvisatory vocal skills.

Stage Four
Acting– In this stage each student will focus more on vocal technique and difficult character development.  They will work on monologues and duologues and short scenes throughout the year. They will start to have a good knowledge of theatre practitioners and practices, particularly Stanislavski. They will leave this group with an understanding of practitioner ideologies. They will also look at the National Theatre Connections Scripts.

Dance– In this stage, each student will continue to develop and build on their confidence, imagination, technique and discipline working towards a high standard. They will delve deeper into the different dance forms building on technique and will also form a greater understanding of choreography skills. They will work in detail to create a high standard of performance and creative work working together as a company.

Singing– Students will connect the variety of vocal styles and explore colours the voice can make when singing. They will develop strengthening lower and upper voice registers and changing between them; learning more complicated pieces in terms of melody, rhythm, and range, with more challenging harmonies – working toward confident 4-part harmony singing as well as opportunities for small group work such as duets and also solo work. They will develop the skills to link musical features in vocal line and accompaniment with expression in singing; awareness of appropriate features of genre. Also, they will explore acting through song.

Timetable and prices

Our prices are per term.   It is based on £7.50 an hour.  There are no discounts for classes missed.  You can pay monthly by standing order (a month in advance) or termly by bank transfer or cheque.

Stage One is £90 for the term
Stage Two, Three and Four is £270 for the term

There is a 10% sibling discount if both siblings are taking all three subjects.
